Duane Murphy founded Duane Murphy & Associates Steel Market Consulting and The OCTG Situation Report® in 1986, the leading source for OCTG supply, OCTG demand, and OCTG intel and analysis.
During his 30-year corporate business career, Duane has had operational experience in procurement, planning, and senior marketing capacities with several major FORTUNE 500 companies. Duane's oilfield-related operational experience included senior management responsibilities with major ERW and Seamless Mills.
Duane Murphy is a graduate of Ohio University and received his Master's Degree from the University of Michigan. He majored in marketing with a minor in economics and finance.
Duane also was former president of The American Marketing Association, Co-chairman of The Council of The Machinery & Allied Products Institute, Chairman of The Specialty Tubular Producers Committee of The American Iron & Steel Institute and served on the API Technical Products Committee.

Susan Murphy | Publisher + Editor in Chief
Susan Murphy is the Publisher and Editor in Chief of The OCTG Situation Report®, the leading authority focused on the North American Oil Country Tubular Goods market.
Susan worked alongside the founder of The OCTG Situation Report®, Duane Murphy (and yes, there is a family connection!) since 2000 assisting in various aspects of producing the monthly publication and special projects including market research and development before assuming the publisher post.
It had long been suspected that Susan carried the 'OCTGene,' a fact that was confirmed when she took the reins in 2012. A native of Michigan and now practicing cowgirl, Susan employs her education from both the University of Michigan and Michigan State University bringing her expertise in the areas of research, marketing, branding and creative and technical writing to The Report. She has also enjoyed a successful business career as a lauded entrepreneur, running her own brand/marketing and advertising/design firms.
William Pilipchuk | Assistant Editor + Operations Manager
William Pilipchuk is Assistant Editor and Operations Manager for The OCTG Situation Report®.
William is responsible for coordinating the complete design, layout and editing of the monthly Report. He manages all digital media and distribution channels, handles subscription billing and payments and implements all office back-end duties.
He is a graduate of Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), in Public Relations/Image Management.
